Curiosity
Trebbiano is an ancient and indigenous variety of the Teramo Hills. It gives an elegant and authoritative wine, long-lived and able to evolve over time. Emidio Pepe’s Trebbiano d’Abruzzo is an expressive and fascinating white wine, with a great aromatic and gourmand range. Full, salty and very refreshing, a great wine if drunk in youth, a space wine if you have the patience to wait a few years.
Author Suggestion
“When the evening of Christmas Eve arrives, say goodbye to traditions and instead of the usual champagne to be paired with smoked salmon, offer an equally sensational alternative to bubbles. With Trebbiano d’Abruzzo you will convince everyone, perhaps even abstainers. ” The Triple A team
Wine Tips
Emidio Pepe’s first idea was to produce the best expression of Trebbiano and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and to do this, aging was the key to achieving the refinement and elegance he sought and, at the same time, preserving youth. and the energy of wines. The aging cellar was the first of the cellars to be built at Casa Pepe, a sign of Emidio’s great intuition: time. In fact, he was a pioneer in leaving the bottles of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo in reserve from the earliest years. He was convinced that not only these could keep themselves well but that his wines had a fundamental need to age to reach their true dimension. As in the past even today, at least half of the production is stored in the cellar and is released only when the family thinks that the vintage is at its best. About 350 thousand bottles are stored in the Pepe cellar and continue their refinement. It is a constantly moving cellar as old bottles are released in small quantities every year, while the young ones are stocked and will only be released when ready.
This is our historical heritage, a library of vintages and a collection of bottles that have been produced over the years with the same philosophy and method to photograph the climate of each season and make sure that each bottle tells its story.
